beautiful dog you have, absolutely gorgeous, those eyes are stunning on him. And ignore what every one else said about the eyes. Just because he would not meet "standard" does not mean that he is not 100% malamute. Standards are based solely on someone's opinion. So your dog is probably 100% malamute, just not up to the "standards" that the private clubs have. My dog isn't either and he is a pure bred labrador. He has a pink nose and a chipped front tooth. The pink nose would disqualify him from the show ring, but that does not mean that he is not a pure bred. Again, beautiful dog.

Just as the one person stated. Malamutes do not have blue eyes. Somewhere in his family history husky is mixed in with his blood. 100 % Purebred Malamutes have amber/brown almond shaped eyes ALL THE TIME.

My source: Alaskan Malamute Guide Book. :/

ah but it is possible due to a type of genetic mutation. Just like deer have their brown coats, they can also be piebald. Or like ablinoism can occur in any species. This could be a 100% malamute, but it is very likely that it has at least one husky in its bloodline. But just because the dark brown eye gene is dominant, there could very possibly be a mutation some where. And remember, just because it got published in a book does not mean it is always true, different scientists, or people in general could have different opinions. it may be a disqualifying factor in the akc or whatever organization you are thinking of, but just because their is height requirements for a dog does not mean that every single dog of that breed (and it may be 100% that breed) will fall into that standard. Remember, some one just came up with those standards. It does not mean that the breed will follow it 100% of the time.

a mutation is possible but I don't think the case here is mutation.
Your comments are irrational. Standards are based on someone's opinion, but everything in it has a rational explanation. If the malamutes should not have blue eyes then there is something more behind this. Things that look stupid to you in standard of a breed almost always have a nice explanation. Blue eyes are not dominant and usually in some breeds goes along with genetic conditions that can reflect on health\I'm not specifying that this is valid for malamutes\. I'm a husky owner and read a lot since I though like you "that doesn't matter"...but as I read the more I understand that the stupidest things like eye shape or well-defined stop matters a LOT and it's part of the all that makes the breed suitable for work in terrible weather.
The concrete dog has blue eyes and head type that it's not typical for malamute, I can't say that it's malamute, but I can say it's absolutely stunning!!!

I completely understand, and honestly, I completely agree with you. You are right, I was being irrational (was just kind of annoyed that the person insulted me, and was not the first person to call the person out just because the dog didn't meet standard), and even though (like you said) standards are based on some ones opinion, usually they are for health, or job reasons. However, in some case, like the great dane, the standard in the akc has made them live shorter lives compared to the english standard statistically. This particular dog is definitely stunning though, even though it may not be 100% malamute. I don't think there is a line of dogs any where that is 100% a certain breed. If some one could trace a dogs lineage all the way back to when the breed was first developed, then there is probably at least one "slip up" on the way. So that also asks the question, what dog is truly, truly a "pure bred".
And I also want to thank you for putting proof with your rebuttal to what I said. It makes a lot more sense to me than just some one saying that they read the fact in a dog book some where.
Have a great, and safe holiday season :XD:

 just your opinion, doesn't mean that its true. oh and just because you have a malamute guide book doesn't mean you know everything about them. Not trying to start a fight, but just stating my opinion.

thank you for calling my opinion blabber shit. Obviously I am wasting my time trying to have a decent conversation based solely on opinions with you. I am in no way saying I know every thing about dogs, because I don't. And neither do you. Simple facts there. However, all I was doing was try to stick up for this girl who is getting nasty comments like yours about her gorgeous dog. Does it really matter what she thinks her dog is? Does it really matter what I think about what her dog is? Does it really matter what you think her dog is? No. As long as she loves her dog, and takes care of him (and this picture is enough to say that she definitely does). He is a beautiful dog no matter what he is. And even though he may not meet standards, that does not mean that the dog is not a pure malamute. Just because some one came up with standards does not mean that the dog needs to follow them. Not every pure bred dog would do well in the show ring. Just like not all people are considered pretty. It is a matter of opinion. I respect your opinion, I would just like it if you respected mine. If you would like to continue swearing at me, and calling me names, please feel free to do so by noting me, just lets not have a conversation like this on this girls picture of her dog.
Thank you and have a good day. oh and real mature blocking my comment.
